<p>Flames uneven?&#xA0;</p><p>Flames non-existent?&#xA0;</p><p>Flames not as tall as they normally are?</p><p>If you have ever turned on your Aquafire and the flames don&apos;t look quite right, then this article is for you!&#xA0;</p><p>The common culprit for uneven or low mist is <strong>high water levels in the mist tanks</strong>. First and foremost, your Aquafire needs to be cleaned multiple times a year and run regularly to turn over fresh water. Please follow our <a href="https://aquafire.gorgias.help/en-US/general-cleaning-for-aquafire-and-aquafire-pro-340453" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Preventative Maintenance Guide</a> to keep your Aquafire running optimally! If preventative maintenance didn&apos;t solve the issue or your Aquafire is within the first 90 days, then high water is usually caused by a stuck float sensor or a mist maker that needs to be cleaned or replaced.&#xA0;</p><p>To check the float sensor:&#xA0;</p><ul><li>Take off the top lid<ul><li>Open the mist maker tanks, there will be 1 tank per 20&quot;. A 20&quot; Aquafire will have 1 Mist Maker Tank, a 40&quot; will have 2 and a 60&quot; will have 3. Does the water look higher in the one that has uneven mist?<img src="https://attachments.gorgias.help/uploads.gorgias.io/PG09N6gmbp74j5gK/Diagrams-78a331a9-60a1-41c2-93ba-62fda7462b42.jpg" style="width: 600px;" class="fr-fic fr-dib"></li><li>If it looks a bit high, you&apos;ll need to remove some of that water. Then agitate the mist maker by lifting the mist maker up and down to create an internal wave to unstick the float sensor in the lower mist maker tank. <a class="fr-strong" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_caX56hz-k&amp;t=222s" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">This video</a> shows that process starting at the 3:40 minute mark.</li></ul><p>If that doesn&apos;t solve the issue, please check the condition of your mist maker:&#xA0;</p><ul><li>Take off the top lid</li><li>Open the mist maker tanks. Just moving the front fan filters up by a 1/4&quot; can push out too much mist and create a foggy effect and potentially cause a mist overproduction that can damage internal electrical connections and light strips. The ring lift for the front fan filters can be found here. There is 1 filter per 20&quot;. However, it is not a universal fit for all installations. The thinner sponge filter has been known to cause the foggy look for some. We have thicker sponge filters upon request. If you would like to request new fan filter covers please send an email to <a data-fr-linked="true" href="mailto:ces@aquafire.com">ces@aquafire.com</a>. We will provide free front fan filters to all Aquafire and Aquafire Pro&apos;s still under warranty. We will need the serial number and size (20&quot;, 40&quot; and 60&quot;) of your Aquafire or Aquafire Pro.&#xA0;</li><li>A temporary solution to test if the sponge filter is too thin is to cut a thin piece of paper such as a post-it note to be about a quarter of the size of the front sponge and place it there. Or take painters tape and place it on the bottom half of the sponge. This should dramatically reduce the foggy flame appearance if the sponge filter thickness is the issue. You can perform small tweaks to the Aquafire to get it looking perfect in your individual space.&#xA0;</p><p>1. <u>Adjust the Flame Density and Flame Speed on the remote control.</u> We suggest setting them to the lowest settings and then adjusting density and speed separately. Also reference <a class="fr-strong" href="https://aquafire.gorgias.help/en-US/flame-issues---smoky--foggy-flame-841252" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">this article</a> if you are experiencing a foggy or smoky flame.</p><p>3. <u>Note and adjust the airflow in your room.</u> Is an HVAC vent pointed directly at the Aquafire? Is a door constantly opening and closing near the flame? Does the vapor seem to be pulled down every time the HVAC turns on (<a class="fr-strong" href="https://aquafire.gorgias.help/en-US/flame-issues---downdrafting-677269" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">this is called down-drafting</a>)? All of these airflow situations can affect the vapor flame and need to be adjusted to prevent excess vapor from being pushed onto the Aquafire which can cause electrical shorts and internal damage.</p><p>4. <u>Check the ring lift covering the front fans.</u> First, ensure they are fully seated in the holder, then you can lift up by a centimeter at a time to adjust the flame. Please note that adjusting up by even a 1/4&quot; can release an excess of vapor and cause water damage to internal electrical components.
