The UV-C lights are an important safety feature included in every Aquafire insert to provide peace of mind for the homeowner/purchaser and the people that come in contact with the vapor flames.
All Aquafire Water Vapor Fireplace Inserts are equipped with a UV-C lighting system, much like modern HVAC Systems. Each 20" section houses it's own UV-C light. So a 40" insert will have 2 UV-C lights and a 60" will have 3 UV-C lights. This system is there to sanitize the mist produced and all air movement created by the front and rear fans. It kills 99% of airborne microbial, fungal or viral organisms in the mist. The UV-C lights turn on regularly even when the unit is not running (but does need to be plugged into a power source). They are tucked within the insert and are not visible to the viewer.
