Common Set backsUpdated 9 months ago

Aquafire uses a series of powerful LED light strips to illuminate the water vapor creating the illusion of real flames. Depending on the design of an enclosure and overall fireplace surround, these lights can escape the front of the enclosure and potentially project onto the ceiling of the room. Some clients enjoy this feature stating it gives additional warmth to the overall experience while others find that it distracts from the fireplace and the overall effect they desire.

It is important to understand the relationship between the opening height of an enclosure and the setback from the front of the enclosure. While variables such as ceiling heights and material selections can impact light reflection and overall appearance, the chart below lists the most common setbacks and opening heights for the AWA and AWPR series. If your project requires that you vary from these, it’s recommended you test prior to final construction of your enclosure.

The 👍 means light is generally contained while 🚫 indicates some light may escape and be visible depending on ceiling height. The opening height assumes there is an additional 5" or more recessed light trap in addition to the listed height.

Chart Key

Red Lines indicate the opening height.

Red Lines indicate the front set back. This applies to the overhang and front bottom of the enclosure.

Overhang (and light trap) must match the front set back. Having mismatched setbacks can result in light bleeds (see results below)
